Abstract
In Africa, 565 million people still lack access to electricity, and a further 900 million lack clean cooking solutions.

As countries across Africa respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic, they have a once in a generation opportunity to ‘recover better’ with sustainable energy. In The Recover Better with Sustainable Energy Guide for African Countries, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) sets out clear, practical steps for African countries to follow so they will benefit from increased GDP, affordable energy provision, and improved agriculture, gender and health outcomes - all as they reset their economies and close energy access gaps.

Countries that pursue the opportunities of recovering better with sustainable energy for all will achieve a range of key benefits.
