The IKEA Foundation is seeking an individual to manage one of the Foundation’s largest initiatives: the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). The GEAPP brings together influential philanthropic, government, donor, multilateral development banks (MDBs) and development finance institutions (DFIs) and private sector partners to accelerate an equitable energy transition in emerging and developing economies. The IKEA Foundation is a GEAPP anchor partner, along with the Rockefeller Foundation and Bezos Earth Fund. The Programme Manager GEAPP is responsible for ensuring that maximum impact for people and planet is generated from the IKEA Foundation’s contribution to the initiative.
The GEAPP Programme Manager will be responsible for building a strong working relationship with the GEAPP management team to ensure cross-organisational alignment on objectives and strategies. They will advise the GEAPP management team across all aspects of implementation, helping the GEAPP maximise impact, and ensuring that the IKEA Foundation’s inputs and interests are reflected in the decision making of the GEAPP. They will establish information sharing and communication mechanisms between the GEAPP and the IKEA Foundation enabling quick decision-making, transparency and accountability, and look to identify opportunities to leverage the IKEA Foundation’s other work in support of the GEAPP’s objectives.
We are seeking an individual with demonstrable experience in project management and working in developing countries, as well as knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector, including relevant experience and knowledge in the field of renewable energy access and/or energy transition. This experience could have been gained from working in private sector, public sector, philanthropy, or financing organisations. Furthermore, knowledge of the range of private and public sector players relevant to service delivery and financing in the on- and off-grid energy sectors, as well as a good understanding of the role of clean energy and its relevance to combatting climate change, is key for success in this role. Most importantly, the successful individual will demonstrate a strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of the IKEA Foundation.
