Eligibility/Description
The Earthna Prize honors and promotes the important role of the knowledge passed down through generations in addressing the pressing environmental issues of our time. The prize strives to support projects and organizations that preserve, integrate, and adopt traditional knowledge and cultural heritage to tackle contemporary sustainability challenges. First launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2024, Earthna Prize attracted hundreds of applications from over 100 countries, affirming Earthna’s conviction that traditional knowledge and cultural heritage are not merely objects of preservation but active resources for contemporary sustainability problems.

The inaugural Earthna Prize winners and finalists, announced in 2025, reflect the range of approaches the Prize seeks to elevate, from water conservation and ancestral ecological models to traditional architecture and urbanism, community-led fisheries management, and more.

With a prize pool of US $1 million, four winners are able to use the award to support the development, continuation, and scaling of their work.
