Description
A climate neutral world is increasingly manifested by science, politics and civil society as the aspiring goal for our desired future. More and more countries, subnational entities and companies are committing to net zero emissions. The urgent question now is how to translate this vision into near-term action.

Reaching climate neutrality requires not only a combination of national commitments, but a global mission that creates a connection between national climate targets, economic reforms and climate innovation. Public action is key to mainstreaming these objectives, developing a policy mix to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and creating a sustainable, resilient future within the boundaries of the planet.

A small group of experts and stakeholders from politics, science, private sector and NGOs are invited to discuss:

Where do we want to go: a future global vision towards net-zero emissions and climate resilience, the importance of global climate neutrality and keeping 1.5c within reach Where are we: the status quo of global climate ambition and effort, e.g. global GHG trends; NDCs and long-term strategies (strategies, plans and policies for climate action); non-state action and initiatives How do we get there: translating the global vision into specific near-term action from a scientific, a governmental and a private sector perspective The event is hosted as a satellite event at this year’s virtual Petersberg Climate Dialogue (PCD) completing this year’s ministerial segment involving a range of government and non-state actors. The satellite event will take place virtually on May 05, 2021 12:00 - 14:30 CEST.
