Consultant for Solar Water Pumping Training
Under the overall of the Head of mission Thailand and direct supervision and guidance of the Project Manager, the consultant will be directly responsible and accountable for the co-implementation and evaluation of solar water pumping trainings to organizations in a number of key identified countries.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Establish and strengthen liaison with national and international stakeholders (NGO´s, UN agencies, governmental offices, donors and private companies) by presenting IOM project aims and training packages in relevant forum such as national WASH coordination groups.
- Evaluate knowledge and needs related to solar water pumping trainings from different organizations, prior the implementation of any training session. Collect working practices and best examples from different countries.
- Carry out 3 to 4 days long solar water pumping trainings (remotely, online), following IOM training material, in both French and English. Prepare examples and adapt training material to the specifies of the targeted countries.
- Collect feedback from training participants and incorporate it to improve training packages.
- Provide post-training reports with recommendation to enforce a better adoption of solar technology in WASH programmes.
- Provide technical support and advice to IOM project manager as requested.
Required Qualification and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in water management, hydraulic engineering, clean energy or any related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Additional university degree, course or diploma in electrical engineering or related field will be considered as a strong asset.
Experience:
- At least seven years of progressive experience in the field of water and/or solar energy porgrammes in recognized international institutions.
- Theoretical knowledge and hands on experience on solar water pumping technology.
- Experience in training multi stakeholder groups in solar and water issues.
Skills:
- Familiarity with electricity and solar cutting edge technology related to solar water pumping.
- Familiarity with humanitarian programmes, contexts and organizations.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.
