In this session the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) program will share guidelines for designing and implementing electric cooking solutions in school settings. Drawing on operational experience, Ecobora will discuss the deployment of solar e‑cooking systems in Kenyan schools. In addition, World Bank energy teams from Ghana and Rwanda will present country-level perspectives on designing and implementing institutional cooking operations.
The webinar will highlight lessons from assessments of institutional cooking demand, analyses of fuel supply chains and supply security, policy alignment across energy, education, and environment, and evaluations of delivery, financing, and operational models for institutions.
This event will feature opening remarks by Erik Magnus Fernstrom, Regional Practice Director for Infrastructure in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region at the World Bank Group. The discussion will be moderated by Michelle Hallack, Senior Energy Specialist with ESMAP at the World Bank Group, and will include presentations from Richard Sieff, Research Associate at Gamos Ltd.; Justine Abuga, CEO of Ecobora; Sarika Gupta, Senior Economist for Social Policy in the Africa Region at the World Bank Group; and Clementine Umugwaneza, Energy Specialist in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region at the World Bank Group.
