The Secretariat of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) is delighted to invite you to the ISA webinar on understanding the sustainability standards of solar modules. The global solar PV market has been growing rapidly to meet the increasing demand for green power & proving to be a cost-effective climate change mitigation solution in most parts of the world. The global cumulative installed capacity passed the 1 TW mark in 2022, with estimates indicating a tripling of annual solar PV additions by 2030 globally.
While we are witnessing high growth in solar PV, there are strong market signals indicating the importance of reducing embodied carbon in solar modules & BoP. It is imperative that the gradual demand for sustainable solar modules would increase in the coming days. Global Electronics Council (GEC), a non-profit organization with funding from the Ultra Low-Carbon Solar Alliance (ULCSA) has come up with a new global certification on solar modules & inverters and is a crucial resource for procurers, installers, retailers & other stakeholders who are committed to reduce the carbon footprint & promote a more sustainable solar PV industry.
This workshop is designed to bring together subject matter experts, associations, policymakers, developers, and manufacturers to discuss the EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) standards, increase awareness amongst manufacturers about this standard and discuss how manufacturers can adopt & ensure to meet the requirements along with discussions on the policies & regulations on this subject.
As the world moves towards an energy transition, such standards will gain increasing importance. Manufacturers from developing countries must be aware of global trends and strive to de-carbonize their supply chains to support their goal of becoming a major solar exporters.
