Abstract
This report estimates that over the next five years additional 2,000 - 3,000 of micro-grids will be installed in Kenya. According to the report mini-grids in Kenya are evolving more rapidly than elsewhere in the world due to the spreading of manifold commercial approaches. Key factors for opening up market opportunities are declining costs and availability of technologies. The analysis is based on four observations from Kenya: declining costs of technologies and falling prices for consumers, commercially viable returns, and less risks due to technological developments and support from Government.
