| Abstract | Anaerobe Behandlungsverfahren für kommunale Abfälle sind noch relativ junge Technologien, die in Entwicklungsländern bisher nicht etabliert sind. Aufgrund der gleichzeitig stofflichen und energetischen Verwertung, bergen sie jedoch zukunftsträchtige ökonomische und ökologische Potentiale im Abfallsektor. Gerade in Entwicklungsländern kann die anaerobe Abfallbehandlung wegen der dort knapperen Ressourcen, günstigerer Temperaturen und meist geringerer Lohnkosten.
