Last Update:

The government / the ministry of finances sets fixed fuel pump prices.

According to →Appendix A1b, the government was urged by IMF to stop subsidizing fuels. This resulted in a notable price increase in mid-November 2010. The real cost of gasoline were estimated to be at CDF 1200 / liter while the pump price was adjusted from CDF 970 to CDF 1150. According to →App. A1b, the subsidies of fuels from October 2009 until October 2010 summed up to 17 million US$.

The price increase came to the public as a total surprise. The responsible minister gave a statement not before three days later (→App. A1, A1b).

No official information concerning fuel pricing could be found online.
